If you are struggling to ignite your faith or you feel like your faith is lost, start taking action on what you know to be true. He says, true faith will be known by the fruit of the faith. It’s not enough to say I have faith in God, or I believe in Jesus. And he is very clear that true faith lives. It’s as if James is showing the two different types of people when it comes to faith. This might be my favorite verse in James. “But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” Who in your life can you show love to today? 6. While we might have needs too, James says if you really want to live out your faith, learn to love others well. Love is the choice to lift someone else up above yourself and give whatever they need over your own needs. Not just tolerate or put up with, but love. In this verse he offers the instruction to love others. He pairs encouragement with instruction and gives us much homework to do right now. “If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you do well.” When we live like that, we receive the blessing of deeper faith. If we know God is working, and we know God provides, and we know God answers prayer, we should live as though He is absolutely doing those things. “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does” ( James 1:25). If we know the truth and actually apply it, James says that person is blessed. He warns them, and us, to not just know the truth but apply it. We come to this portion of James towards the end of chapter one when James starts giving instructions according to all the people have already learned. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” Look around your life both inside and out and make a list of all the gifts from God. But no matter what, James wants us all to know the good things we receive – whether physical or spiritual – are all gifts from one source: the Father of everything, God Himself. Sometimes that looks like peace, and sometimes it looks like a piece of land or physical possessions. While Jesus was the greatest gift ever given, James says, there is more. ![]() Not only that, but God is ready and waiting to give good gifts to His children. When everything around us seems to be changing, James gives a strong encouragement to remember the one who never changes, and never fails. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” Sometimes we complicate it and wonder, but how? There is no magic prescription for prayer, but we do find a good example from Jesus in Luke 11 when the disciples ask Him, “Lord, teach us to pray.” I encourage you as you walk this road of deeper faith to simply ask God. James gives another bold statement here in James 1:5, stating that God gives wisdom freely when His children ask for it. Have you ever felt like you just don’t know what to do next? James knew the church was walking through some stuff in which they would need wisdom and guidance. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” It’s up to us to choose joy in the waiting. But James reminds us, these things that happen to us are not to harm us but rather to help us grow deeper in our faith. Life can be downright difficult and the thought of having to work through another struggle or another trial can feel almost impossible at times. ![]() Right from the start of his letter to the believers throughout Israel, James offers a bold statement: the tests of life have potential to produce a work of faith in a Christian’s life. “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” If you want to strengthen your faith muscles and walk confidently through your next trial full of faith, here are 10 few verses from James to get you started: 1. My 5-week Bible Study, James: Tired, Tested, Torn, and Full of Faith walks through James to discover how to live full of faith even when you don’t feel like it. The book of James in the New Testament gives us a glimpse into what it looks like to lean hard into a deeper life of faith. Things like death, or circumstances that bring grief in strong waves, or pain that feels unbearable, causes us to either lean into faith or push away from it. ![]() ![]() ![]() The dplyr package in R is a popular tidyverse package for data manipulation that offers a set of useful functions for transforming and organizing datasets.

Director Olivia Wilde was served legal documents while presenting her new film at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday, and now the organization is looking into how that happened. Steve Granitz/WireImage/Getty Images CNN Jason Sudeikis says he’s still trying to sort out his split with Olivia Wilde. In her legal filing, Wilde also addressed the infamous April incident, accusing Sudeikis – her partner of nine years from 2011 – of “outrageous legal tactics”. The custody battle will now move to California, unless Wilde and Sudekis can privately agree on their children’s futures. “Therefore, for the reasons stated on the record on July 15, 2022, respondent’s motion to dismiss the custody petitions filed on Octois granted.” In 2019, People magazine announced that the couple were separating after nearly eight years together. “When I did not agree, since the children have not lived in New York for several years, Jason filed these papers.” A long silence followed, in which time Wilde made the leap from actress to director, with the movie Bookworm. ![]() ![]() “Recently, however, Jason decided that he wanted to go to New York for the next year while he is not working, and wanted the children to be with him there during this time off,” said Wilde. Wilde said they had agreed the children would go to school in Los Angeles next year while Sudeikis was in London filming the final series of his Apple TV show Ted Lasso. ![]() Sudeikis, 46, then filed a petition in October last year to the New York court. She accused Sudeikis of serving custody papers “in the most aggressive way possible” when she was handed an envelope on stage while she was presenting to more than 4,000 film executives at CinemaCon in April.Īccording to legal documents, the former couple had been amicably co-parenting, but the custody battle turned bitter over Wilde’s possible move to London. If Sudeikis also spends $107,000 a month, I suppose Wilde deserves to be able to do so as well.Olivia Wilde was served legal papers from ex-partner Jason Sudeikis as she spoke onstage during a CinemaCon 2022 presentation at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on April 26 (AFP via Getty Images) This is less about that and more about, “Holy shit, rich people are rich!” According to filings, Wilde makes $71,000 a month, but she spends $107,000 a month on her mortgage, laundry, and cleaning, and more. She should be able to afford sprinkles for their ice cream cones just like Sudeikis. Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis didn't make it down the aisle, but the former couple welcomed two kids over the course of their nine-year, fan-fave romance, son Otis and. Wilde should be able to afford to give the kids a bedroom in her house as nice as the one in Sudeikis’ house. If their kids get two nannies with Sudeikis instead of one when they’re with Wilde, then by damn, they should have two with Wilde, too. From a legal and technical standpoint, I do not begrudge Wilde for asking. She wants $500,000 and back child support. The issue, however, is that Sudeikis makes more money than Wilde, so she believes that Sudeikis should have to provide child support so that their two children can afford to live the same lifestyle with her as they do with him. Sudeikis, likewise, covers expenses while he is with the kids. ![]() Wilde asserts that, although the two split private school tuition for the kids, she has to cover all the expenses of raising their children when she is in charge of them. The latest? Olivia Wilde is asking for child support from Sudeikis because he has the “superior” income.
